With the assistance of a friend, and the generous donation of Squash Apple Soup, the soup kitchen was held yesterday at the Community Centre. The seniors were told about the soup being sold to them to raise money for my initiatives and 11 bowls of soup were sold on top of the 9 people who attended the kitchen! WHOOOT!
I will now be changing the day of the kitchen to Wednesdays as I have missed 3 lessons which help me with my dance instruction. Due to the high response from the seniors, I have decided to ask my bosses if I can run the soup kitchen out of the Community Room at DCC so that I can have the seniors who come to play bingo/bridge/euchre on Wednesdays at 1:30 pm! If we have even a small portion of the players come out, there would be a decent amount of fundraising done! :)
The soups made were potato garlic, chicken vegetable rice and squash apple.
